Google has announced its intention to double its AI serving capacity every six months to keep up with the growing demand for artificial intelligence services. Amin Vahdat, Google’s AI infrastructure head, revealed this plan during an all-hands meeting, highlighting the need for a thousandfold increase in compute capacity over the next four to five years. This initiative comes as major tech companies, including Google and OpenAI, race to expand their AI infrastructure to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding user base. Despite the significant investments required, Google aims to achieve this expansion without increasing costs or energy consumption. This strategic move underscores the competitive nature of the AI infrastructure market, where companies strive to build more reliable, performant, and scalable data centers. The announcement also follows similar moves by OpenAI, which plans to build multiple data centers across the US in partnership with SoftBank and Oracle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
