This move is part of Inovia’s strategy to strengthen ties between the Canadian and Middle Eastern tech ecosystems. The new office is located in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, an international financial center and free economic zone known for innovation and artificial intelligence. Claire Glossop Irani, Inovia’s head of strategic partnerships, will lead the firm’s efforts in the region, focusing on fostering new commercial and financial partnerships, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This expansion aligns with Canada’s broader initiative to bolster ties with the Persian Gulf country, as evidenced by recent agreements and collaborations in technology and investment between the two nations. Despite these developments, concerns about the UAE’s human rights record remain.
