Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin successfully launched its New Glenn rocket from Cape Canaveral, marking a significant milestone with its mission to send a pair of NASA spacecraft to Mars. This is only the second flight for the New Glenn, which is designed to ferry people and supplies to the moon. The twin Mars orbiters, part of NASA’s Escapade mission, will spend a year stationed near Earth before heading to Mars, where they will study the planet’s upper atmosphere and magnetic fields. The mission aims to shed light on how the solar wind interacts with Mars, contributing to our understanding of the planet’s atmospheric loss. Blue Origin’s successful recovery of the booster after separation is a key step towards reducing costs, similar to SpaceX’s approach. The company’s next steps include launching a prototype Blue Moon lunar lander, as part of its ongoing collaboration with NASA under the Artemis program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
