The Canadian tech industry has responded positively to the 2025 federal budget, marking a significant shift from the previous government’s stance on business. The budget includes increased spending on defense technology, a stablecoin framework, advancements in open banking, and updates to the research and development tax credit. Innovators and organizations such as Koho, NACO, and Shopify have expressed satisfaction with the new government’s engagement with the private sector. Prime Minister Mark Carney’s experience and the appointment of AI and Digital Innovation Minister Evan Solomon have been highlighted as positive influences. However, there are concerns about the lack of detail on AI strategy and economic value capture, as well as the large deficit. The budget aims to catalyze private sector investment, with a projected $1 trillion to be invested in Canada over the next five years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
