Sparrow BioAcoustics, a healthtech startup based in St. John’s, NL, has successfully raised $10 million CAD to expand its smartphone-based stethoscope technology across North America. The funding round, led by Killick Capital and Klister Credit, with support from Pelorus VC, Brinex, and the family office of former Verafin vice president Kevin Baker, aims to support the company’s growth as it deploys its Stethophone platform in hospitals. Sparrow’s app, which transforms smartphones into medical-grade stethoscopes, has received approval from Health Canada and the US FDA, and is being used by approximately 40,000 patients and practitioners.
