Waymo, the self-driving technology company owned by Alphabet, is re-entering the delivery sector through a new partnership with DoorDash in Phoenix. This strategic, multi-year collaboration will initially focus on delivering orders from DoorDash’s convenience and grocery stores, DashMart, using Waymo’s driverless vehicles. The autonomous deliveries will cover a 315-square-mile area, and more local merchants are expected to join the service over time. While DoorDash has previously collaborated with Serve Robotics for sidewalk delivery bots and developed its own autonomous delivery bot, Dot, the Waymo partnership will solely utilize Waymo vehicles. This venture aims to provide a novel customer experience and promote the vision of autonomous local commerce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
