The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) Alberta has released its latest Construction Monitor report, authored by chief economist Jock Finlayson. The report identifies significant investment opportunities in Alberta, with 111 current and potential natural-resource projects amounting to $148 billion. This figure represents a substantial portion of the federal inventory’s $633 billion pipeline. The report emphasizes the role of energy projects, including oil and gas, carbon capture and storage, power generation and transmission, and downstream processing. Alberta’s construction sector, which contributes 8.2% to the province’s GDP and employs 245,400 individuals, is poised for a boom, especially with Ottawa’s commitment to reducing project approval times from five years to two. The ICBA believes that Alberta’s trades, project managers, and entrepreneurs are crucial to Canada’s ambition to become an energy superpower.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
