Anduril Industries and Blue Origin have been awarded contracts by the U.S. Air Force under the Rocket Cargo program to explore the feasibility of transporting military cargo from orbit to Earth. These contracts, although relatively small, are critical first steps towards potential large-scale funding and demonstrate the Pentagon’s interest in revolutionizing military logistics using reusable rocket technology. The contracts fall under the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Rocket Experimentation for Global Agile Logistics (REGAL) program, which aims to develop commercial rockets and reentry systems capable of delivering cargo to remote areas in under an hour. Anduril’s contract will focus on developing a reentry container capable of carrying five to ten tons of payload, while Blue Origin’s contract involves analyzing technology for point-to-point material transportation. If successful, this initiative could extend to include human transportation and significantly impact global logistics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
