Montréal’s New Innovation Hub Ax-C Aims to Scale Local Startups
News Summary
Montréal has inaugurated Ax-C, a new entrepreneurship hub designed to support the city’s tech ecosystem. Located in the former Montréal Exchange, the 100,000-sq. ft. space has secured leases for 40 startups, with many more on the waitlist. Ax-C offers a collaborative environment where startups can connect with mentors, technical talent, and investors. The project, initiated by École de technologie supérieure incubator Centech, received significant funding from federal, provincial, and municipal governments, as well as private sector contributions from Bell, Google Canada, Desjardins, and Fonds de solidarité FTQ. Ax-C aims to help startups grow and scale internationally, filling a void left by the closure of Notman House. The hub also includes spaces for venture capital investors like Boreal Ventures and McRock Capital, and provides startups access to resources from corporations like Google. The new facility is expected to foster collaboration and innovation within the Québec tech community.
