LemFi Secures $53 Million Series B Funding for Global Expansion
News Summary
LemFi, a London-based fintech platform designed for immigrants, has successfully raised $53 million in a Series B funding round led by Highland Europe. The funding will be used to expand LemFi’s remittance services into Asia and Europe, targeting diaspora communities in North America and Europe to send money to emerging markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. This new capital will also support LemFi in acquiring more customers and increasing its operational footprint globally.
Since its inception in 2020, LemFi has experienced rapid growth, boasting over one million active users and processing $1 billion in monthly transaction volume. The platform is known for its aggressive fraud detection and user-friendly experience, which has contributed to its strong reputation and customer loyalty, with 70% of its earliest customers still active. The recent partnership with embedded finance provider Modulr in Europe marks a significant step in LemFi’s expansion strategy, with plans to secure an Irish license soon.
The Series B round also saw participation from existing investors Left Lane Capital, Palm Drive Capital, and Y Combinator, as well as new investors like Endeavor Catalyst, bringing LemFi’s total funding to $85 million. The company aims to use the funds to extend its offerings, scale its payment network licenses, and recruit talent for its next growth phase. Olalere, the co-founder and CEO, emphasized the adaptability of their technology in scaling operations across diverse markets, with a particular focus on Europe this year.
